Rainbow Honey's cosmic microwave sky review

I plan on writing on several mystery bag reviews this week but tonight I'm sleepy. I wrote a description of the January mystery bag and some brief opinions about what I felt toward certain things. Then I'll write February and March's review on the mini bags and April will be on the large bag.

Tonight's 2nd post is about a specific gorgeous color.

It's called Cosmic Microwave Sky and it was in the March mystery bag. It was in both the mini and large bag. I got the mini so I am missing a third color. I'm glad though I got this one because I FREAKING LOVE THIS COLOR.

I love blue and I love jelly and I love square glitter. I am going to love looking at this on my nails the next few days.

The pictures aren't the greatest but I just wanted to show it off tonight. Maybe tomorrow I'll take daylight photos or use my camera.

Also the only negative about this polish was it's a little thick but I paint my nails right under an AC vent and when the AC comes on, the cold wind wrecks havoc on my polishes. So when it did that I stopped and when it was off I resumed. It seemed to help but not enough. It's not something that will make me stop using it. I can and have continued using many polishes that were thick. Or I can fix it with nail polish thinner.

But since it's a mystery bag and the products are pro types and testers, they welcome feedback like this. They'll know to either add more base and/or less glitter. Just don't take away the square glitters RH, lol.

**edit on May 10th, 2016**

I've still not written the posts I was going to write! I've been super sick, finally went to the doctor today for antibiotics so hopefully I start getting better. But that's not why I wanted to add something here. What I wanted to add is that cosmic microwave sky is now being sold at rainbowhoney.com as part of their Space Collection. There are a lot of previous mystery bag colors (including my favorite grayspace) in this collection. I think it's 10 polishes total (11 if you want to count the May limited edition polish too since it's called Interstellar Ice) and 4 new colors. Of the mystery bag colors, I don't have 2 of them.

Rainbow Honey January mystery bag- no pictures or reviews.

I had canceled my mini subscription in December so I didn't get a bag but I don't want to skip a post so I'll pull from social media and write what was in the bag that month. But I won't take their pictures. I'll still credit where my information is from.

This information is from mysubscriptionaddiction.com, http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2016/02/rainbow-honey-mystery-subscription-box-review-january-2016-2.html

This is for the large mystery bag that was $25 a month for subscribers. But starting in May, subscribers will pay $22! I'm not sure of the new prices for the other subs but I do believe they're changing too.

They sent three whipped cream soap in foil packets along with 3 little plastic spoons. I've never used any of their products in foil packets so I don't have an opinion on it. I do like that they think ahead and include the spoon. The scents were pate de pistache (never smelled this), juicy orange pop (I've smelled their juicy orange pop in hand soap and it smells like orange soda, I prefer the citrus type of orange smell) and the final flavor was Sakura Matsuri. I think I have a cuticle balm with that scent but haven't used it or opened it, smelled it and didn't like it. It's a very popular scent though so if you got this hand soap, try it! (Oh maybe I have some soap in this scent....)

Then they sent cucumber melon lip balm and cucumber melon sugar scrub. I am not a fan of their lip balms but I know many people are. I've traded several of them for other things or just for money, lol. I tried a lemon sorbet sugar scrub they had in 2015 and it was fine but I wasn't a fan of the gritty on my lips so I also trade those now. Some people do like them and try to trade for that. I think I did hear that this batch didn't have enough sugar in it? Not sure. Since these products are being sent to be tested, RH welcomes feedback so that they can improve their products such as this one. If you got a sugar scrub with no sugar, let them know!

Caramel Forest body spray- I don't have anything in that scent so no idea.

The 3 colors are forestal, planet m and caramel forest.

I'm not wowed by how these colors photographed so I didn't feel like I needed them. Forestal is a matte green, light olive green if that makes sense? Then planet m is pink with some shimmer? Hard to tell but it's not the first pink with shimmer I've seen. Then caramel forest is brown, gold, yellow, orange and white glitters I believe. It sounds interesting for someone that likes warm colors. I am not one of those people.

I'm not sad I didn't get this bag. But don't know why, I got mini bags of February and March once I knew what they were and then I signed back up the large bags. Mini bags still get two large bottles so I'm still upset about that and that's why I went back to the large. Sometime this week I'll write posts about February, March and April's mystery bag.

*edit: planet m is now available for purchase on the rainbowhoney.com website!!*

November's Rainbow Honey's mystery bag

November 2015 was an interesting bag. It's the third month where they didn't have the 7.5ml bottles again and it's the first month that there were differences between the large and mini bag.

So everyone got the lotion but different sizes. 1 oz for minis and 4 for large.
Everyone got the lip scrub in different sizes too but I don't remember what they are.
The nail polishes... They put them all in large 15 ml bottles this time. Large subbers got all 3 colors and the minis got two colors.  I got Interstellar Ice and Bloody Weapon. The third color is Pyro Bot.
Then the cuticle balms.... The large bags got 3 different scents of the cuticle balm and we got 1 of those 3. I went ahead and placed an order for just nail polishes from them for the Nov bag. It's $16 but is still cheap if I ever have to buy full price. I'll sell bloody weapon and possibly even the extra I stellar ice. It was pretty but I wasn't enough by it like I am to diamond dust.

The little package at the top with the ribbon is a prize. It's a box of magic button soaps and it meant I was a winner. The prize is a free month to their new sub they're starting called just soaps. I haven't received my present yet.

December bags should be on their way soon. My order from Black Friday is supposed to be here on Tuesday. I hope it gets here a day early. Last December, they did my favorite color, Woland.

October's Rainbow Honey's mystery bag.

I get the mini mystery bag from Rainbow Honey and it's $12.95 a month with shipping. There's a large version for $25 with free shipping.

So my review is for the mini of course.

We got 3 colors again this month but they were in the old mini bottles again. The blue looking color is called My Midnight Garden. Purple is La isla morada. Orange brick shade is magic Brix. We got a bubble bath called Fall Bouquet which as you can see mine leaked a little. I didn't care too much so I didn't say anything this time, but they are super helpful and kind and quick to respond and resolve the issue. The scent is supposed to be fall fruits I think like pears and apples? I don't remember exactly but I seem to like it so I ordered the lotion. Then the two tubes up there are both scented Bubbly but I have no idea what that is supposed to smell like. It's an old scent so I guess they expected people to know. One is a solid perfume balm and the other is a lip balm. I might open the perfume balm bc I'd use it before the lip balm and people are more likely to buy that if it's been used rather than a used lip balm. I've not use the colors yet in a manicure and I don't have a favorite. I like them enough that I'll keep them and used eventually. I'll probably try to sell the non polish items this month.

September's Rainbow Honey mystery bag.

September was better but was still a disappointment. Other people weren't happy either.

I was excited when I opened the package....

Do you see why I was excited???? Stars!! The label has stars on it and I love stars.

Then I opened it and was immediately so disappointed I didn't even take a picture of what was included.

So I just took some pictures now.

Do you see the major problem?? The polishes are smaller than the size that the minis have been since December. This is the size they were when I first signed up. I didn't sign up for the mini because I didn't want small bottles like that. December was the first month I got a mini bag, it was my first order from them and the bag was free with my order. Well the polishes that month were their new minis and they were 7.5 ml. I was like awesome and I made it a point then to get a mini bag every month. Then in June I even switched my sub to the mini because the sizes were great now. Then this happens. These are 5 ml and so tiny.

I took this picture twice and apparently both are blurry. Oh well. I really like both polishes and would have loved to have them in the 7.5 size because I know I'll use them often (especially the star one) and I would even want to buy the large to get back ups but now I'm frustrated with the company and don't know if I should. I've used Underwater World twice and you can see how much is gone already.

I love the stars!!!

There's everything altogether. There's a full size cuticle oil in their new scent truffle cappuccino and it's actually not that strong of a coffee bitter smell so I could probably use this. I have other cuticle oils though that I prefer and I don't use them that much, I prefer the cuticle balms. Plus they didn't give me a box! Some people got boxes and other people didn't. The perfume (yes, another perfume) is called Way Cooler and I like it but again, I'm not a perfume person. Well technically this is called a body mist but yeah, I don't use scented items often and certainly not when it's only purpose is to make you smell nice. Like lotions, cuticle oils and balms are fine when they're scented but they serve a purpose other than to make you smell better. The thing that says Vanilla Plains smells really good but it's a cooling gel and I don't get sunburned enough to need another cooling gel and when I am sunburned, I don't use anything usually. I wish this was a hand sanitizer. We got one in November and I like it and would use it more if I liked the scent enough. Maybe I'll put it in the car to try to use it more. Anyways. That was the only one we've received and they've done 3 cooling gels in the past 12 or 13 months. They had midori last summer and then this summer they had twisted ice tea and now vanilla plains. The final item is soap and the scent is chocolate mint. But it's brown. It's poop brown soap! Who's going to want to use dark brown soap?! I won't use it because it's mint even though the mint doesn't seem to be that strong but if I did like mint, I wouldn't use it because it's POOP BROWN. it should have been green or even green and light brown marbled.

I still liked the September bag better than the August bag despite not getting a box, getting products I won't use and getting the old minis. I still liked it better!

August's Rainbow Honey's mystery bag

The mystery bag for August wasn't that exciting for me. I subscribe to the mini bag which is $10 a month and $3 for shipping or as I say $13 a month.

So the scent was fruit juice and the items were perfume, bath oil and bath tea. The scent is nice, I like fruit scents so this was sort of a win for me. It wasn't super special like Pomme rouge and pomelo are to me but it's alright. I'm just not a perfume person as much as I try to be and I don't have a bath tub so the other two items are pointless for me right now. I think we're getting a hotel room for one night this month so maybe I'll bring the bath tea with me and use it just to use it.

The nail polishes are called Mr. Saturn (the peach) which is too pale for me to like but it does have shimmer. And Jelly Red Sandals which is just a red jelly polish. I don't like red and only use it for holidays so it won't get much use from me. But it is a preview for a collection that I think is coming out next year and I am excited for that because I'm hoping that they're going to be a collection of jelly polishes. And Mr. Saturn is going to be a part of the summer of 199x collection which is being rereleased summer of 2016 and it's going to have new polishes and Mr. Saturn is going to be part of that. So that's cool too because I loved that collection and bought almost all the polishes. I think I'm missing three (lumine hall, pink cloud and I miss you) and I'll be able to get them next year. I don't need I miss you but I need the other two for sure. Especially lumine hall.

The final product is a full size of their base coat. I wasn't a fan of it so I'm like blah that I got yet another bottle. It makes my nail polish peel off when I use it so I just avoid it.

So yeah, I wasn't excited by August and I haven't used anything yet.

July's Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey

I am going to start this off right away and say I wasn't impressed with this bag and I didn't really like it. It feels like the October bag to me. Very BLAH. I had already seen the spoilers so I knew what was coming.

I switched my bag to the mini this month. It's $13 with shipping and it's still a great value. The minis sell for $5 each so $15 in nail polish plus the extras. I didn't take pictures of the names but it's Summer Tan, Calama and Costa Dorada. The Pomelo body spray is a new scent but in an already existing form. Pomelo was in cuticle oil form in the April bag and I loved it. I was hoping they would release more products in that scent. They did! There's a whole collection that is available for pre sale right now. It gets released in August. I would buy the cuticle balm but they didn't make it in this scent. =( the Shea butter is unscented and its unexciting that way. I don't like all their scents but it's still fun to find out if I do or not. The final product is the sweet mandarin lip scrub. The scent is new and they've sent out a few lip scrubs this year in mystery bags (January. Valentine's Day and April) and sold it in April for the first time. I don't use lip scrubs but I was hoping I would like the scent so that if something is released later on, I could buy it. But the scent is so weak, I can hardly smell anything so I can't tell if I like it or not. But I'm going to say I don't because something that weak shouldn't be scented then.

I like Calama and Pomelo this month.

June's Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey

Here's my large mystery bag for the month of June. It's going to be my last large bag for a while. I changed my subscription to a mini so that I could try out Ipsy for a while. If I don't like Ipsy then I'll go back to the large.

The colors are pretty accurate. I'm not a fan of ice tea so I'm trying to sell the scented top coat. It smells just like ice tea with lemon to me. It's supposed to also have oranges but I didn't smell oranges. This will be released as part of the Summer Drinks collection that comes out next month. I really like Cuprum Veritas. It'll be a part of an upcoming (doesn't say if it's this year or next) precious metals collection! Thallo Bot is okay. I'm not a fan of frosts and this is a frost to me but RH calls it a metallic. This is part of the robot collection part 2 which comes out this year too. Then the final nail polish is Aqua Cristalina and it's a glitter topper. It doesn't say anything about it being a part of a future collection.

The two non polish items are the Summer Juice soap and Islands in the Sky perfume mist. Both are new items. Summer Juice is an older scent but starting next month there's going to be a collection of Clear Scented soaps. The soaps come in 6 scents and everyone got a different scent so even if you saw spoiler pictures, you wouldn't know what scent you would get. The Islands in the Sky is a really nice scent and I like the perfume mist bottle. Also you can reuse the bottle which is really awesome and if I ever actually use it up, I'll be putting other perfumes into the bottle. The scent smells like parrot bay with pineapple in it. Yuuuummmmy. So good.....

May's Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey

I just got June's bag last Friday and I haven't posted May's yet! Well I better do that. I don't have pictures of June's yet so that might not show up on here for a while, lol.  But I promise I'll get pictures up before I get July's bag.

The label says Featuring Summer Drinks July 2014.

Here's everything together. There were 3 polishes again and I hope they continue with that. I think more people prefer that and I know there were complaints when they sent out 2 polishes and 4 nail/skin care products. October, November and December were all just 2 polishes. I'm not counting base or top coats! But I think they were and now they're not! So it's an improvement and it shows they do listen. Like the solid perfume they did in December. It was in a tin and you would have to scoop it out to put it on you. In March they introduced the solid perfume balm which I prefer but in a scent I like, I didn't the Rose. HOWEVER!!!!! If a solid perfume was made with the May's cuticle balm scent, I'd buy it. So on that note, what the heck did I get??

-Twisted Ice Tea Cooling Gel- I won't use this. I don't use cooling gels often and I don't like ice tea so I'm leaving this sealed until I can sell it.
-Piña coco-colada cuticle balm- I love this. I love this more than Pomme Rouge and Cranberry Sangria! If/when they release other products in this collection (summer drinks July 2015) I'll be buying more of these cuticle balms plus maybe a lotion.
-Mojito Classico Perfume- I get nauseous from anything minty. Smell or consuming it. I can chew a piece of mint gum but I have to spit it out after 10 minutes or less because I'll get sick. I just sold this the other day. (along with things from past bags)

Let's move on to the colors!!

-Juicy Orange Pop is pretty. It's sheer and works best over white or lots of multiple coats.
-Laguna Grande is a really pretty green blue color. It looks blue in the bottle but once on the nails, the green shows up.
-Neon Yoshimi is a neon (duh) glitter topper. It has pink square, yellow/green square, black square and white square glitters in various sizes along with iridescent hex glitters. There are also pink hex glitters. The white glitters are the smallest, there are two sizes of both pink and yellow glitters and one size of black. The small pink and yellow are the same size then the big squares in pink, yellow and black are the same size. The yellow glitter looks metallic yellow in the bottle but over certain colors it looks green. It's the same yellow that was used in Magic Cake.

I think I like all 3 colors. I love Laguna Grande. I didn't like Neon Yoshimi at first but then I tried it over Laguna Grande and liked it. I've also now seen it over other colors and I really do like it now. I also like Juicy Orange Pop but I think it's just going to be annoying because it's so sheer.

I don't have any good pictures of Laguna Grande and Neon Yoshimi, just a few I took at night in bad lighting. I only swatched Juicy Orange Pop and didn't take a picture.

There was a previous collection called The Robots Collection (I think it came out early 2014 but it could have been in 2013) and it had 5 frost colors and their names ended in Bot and then there was a black and white square glitter topper called Yoshimi. We've now had 3 colors in our mystery bags this year that are apart of the 2015 Robots Collection which I think is just awesome for whenever the collection is released. I'll already have 3 out of possibly 6 colors. Rosy Bot was from January, Neon Yoshimi from May and then in the June bag was a green frost called Thallo Bot.

4.27.2015

The fifth Rainbow Honey order.

My 5th order was in March and that was the month that I skipped the subscription. So I included the March mystery bag in my order.

The first group is the large mystery bag, the second group was my other part of what I ordered, the third group are the free items that come with every large order and the fourth group were my freebies just for ordering.

Here's a comparison photo of the March mystery bags. The nail polish colors were Kozmic Blue, Lemon Honey, Crystal Sword and the nail care/body care products were Tea Biscuit scented top coat, Rose Macaron solid perfume and Petit Four perfume oil. The 3 scented items were sneak peeks at the scents for the La Patissiere collection that was released on April 18th. Part of what I ordered in April included nail polishes from this collection but I wasn't a fan of the scents so I didn't order any of those. I sort of like Rose Macaron but I only opened the mini one and probably won't open the large.

Konpeito! $10 value (but was the March LE color so it was free with my order. March is their birthday month and 2015 was their third birthday and every year they release a nail polish color for this and this was the color for 2015)
Kitsune $7 (part of the original The Yokai collection from 2012)
Bakeneko $7 (part of The Yokai collection but this was new to 2014, there were 3 new colors added to this collection in 2014)
Deep Heart Sea $10 (this was originally in a mystery bag from July 2014 and was released as part of the Hearts collection from February 2015)
Cutie Pie mini $5 (part of the Sweet Talk collection)
Lovebug mini $5 (part of the Sweet Talk collection)
Be Mine mini $5 (part of the Sweet Talk collection and I now have all 6!)

Keep Believing cuticle oil $8 or $12 value (this was free with my order and this scent is on sale for $8 but cuticle oils are generally $12)
Lemon Sorbet scented top coat $6 (this was released in a bliss set and I liked the scent in January so I ordered the top coat, I already have the lip balm, lip scrub, soap and the scented nail polish)

Here is a swatch of Konpeito! over Zoya... I can't remember the name of this black creme. But I love love LOVE Konpeito! It's similar to the polish they released March 2014 but I think this one is a thousand times better. It has mini baby stars versus bigger stars in 2014's All My Stars and it had a mix of bright and pastel stars and larger circles and squares whereas Konpeito! has all pastel stars, smaller squares and smaller hexes. I love it. I ordered a backup in my April order.
I have a Wet N Wild star polish that has the bigger star polish and is silver and it was a huge pain in the butt getting those stars on. I had to dab them all on there whereas with Konpeito! I always had stars on my brush. My first swipe had just one star but after that it was multiple stars.

This is the Sweet Talk entire nail polish collection.

Lovebug, XOXO, Cutie Pie, Be Mine, My Girl and Sweet Talk.

Rainbow Honey Wednesday Manicure!

So Monday night I was painting my nails. There were so many stupid problems. I paint on a little TV table and I sit under the AC vent. Lately, the AC is almost always on. So the entire time I was painting my nails with Rainbow Honey's Delphine, I was messing up. It was getting stringy and it was clumpy. I finished the first coat. Got to the second and there were dog hairs in the first coat. Then there was marks, dips, nicks, dents, what have you, it happened. There were bugs flying everywhere, including into my face a few times. The table wasn't steady. I guess the legs were stuck in the grout line of the tile and so the table was wobbly when I did not need it to be. I flooded my cuticles a few times because of that. I finished the second coat, put top coat on and called it a day.

Oh!! I also stuck my hand into the brush handle, where it's covered in paint. Got it all over my finger. There's still a dog hair somewhere on a nail.

The next day I painted thistle tresses on it. I loooooove this look.

Both of these nail polishes were in the April mystery bag.

4.13.2015

April's Mystery Bag from Rainbow Honey.

I just got my April mystery bag and I am so excited for it that I am already posting reveal pictures. I think Rainbow Honey knocked it out of the park this month. At least in my opinion since I actually love everything.

Even the paper and sticker designs are super cute.

And it's the same design that is on the packaging for the lip scrub and lip balm.

Blue color is called Delphine, purple is eidolon and the glitter is thistle tresses. The cuticle oil is called pomelo and it's citrus scented. It reminds me of grapefruit.

I love the colors, I love the scent of the cuticle oil and I love the scent of the lip balm and lip scrub. I will definitely wear the blue and the glitter polish way more than once and might even wear the purple polish one or two times. I also think the glitter polish will go great over both colors.

I really need to get batteries for the camera.

The colors and the cuticle oil descriptions don't say anything about when/if they'll be released in the future. But the melon fizz ones do. They say that it's a fruity taste of a new line, inspired by summer drinks coming soon. I think that January's Dirty Mintini will also be a part of this summer drinks line. I guess we'll see.

The mystery bag featured in this post was their full size bag and it's $25 a month, including the shipping. There is also a mini size bag that is $10 a month plus $3 for shipping. Or the mini bag can be free with purchases of $65.

And now?? I have to go and remove my rainbow manicure to try out April's polishes.

4.11.2015

Rainbow Manicure using almost all Rainbow Honey polishes and one SinfulColors polish.

I couldn't decide on what color I wanted to paint my nails so I came up with the idea of a rainbow. I started picking colors out of my stash and I know there's 7 colors in the true rainbow but I have 10 nails so some colors had to be duplicated. I painted them quickly and only used one coat of base coat and one coat of top coat. I normally do two of base and two or three of top. I think this was a huge mistake on my part. Details later on.

Here's my right hand. Pinky is RH Crimson nebula (Feburary). Ring is RH Fire spring. Middle is RH Lemon Honey (March bag!!!). Index is RH Tayabak. Thumb is RH mint flavor.

Left hand. Thumb is Sinful Colors savage. Index is RH Kozmic Blues (March bag!!!). Middle is RH zi (October bag). Ring is RH Tsukimi (February bag). Pinky is RH Apple kid.

My thoughts? I love how this looks. But having one coat caused some chipping so my plan was to redo them when I got home. BUT THEN THIS HAPPENED.

I was freaking out because I thought for sure there was going to be blood like there was in October and I think in December. I thought the biotin was helping. And I've been using multiples coats of base and top but I was hurrying to go to bed that night. I didn't do that this time so I'm blaming it on that, lol. I thought about trying to save it but it was broke so far back I decided it would be safer to just cut it short. That way the rest of it couldn't have a chance to also break and possibly break the skin. It's going to grow back at different lengths but as soon as I can cut it to one length, I will.

Surprise favorites for me are Tayabak and Zi. When I got Zi I loved the color in the bottle and I still do. I just never have liked purple polishes on me. I wore this color last year and didn't love it. But I love it right now in the rainbow nails. I think it works great as a violet shade. Tayabak. I bought this because I thought it was going to be more neon green and J loves neon green. I buy green polishes for him but then never wear them, I've never liked how they look on me. I love blues and pinks on me. So when I got the bottle, it wasn't what I expected. I was disappointed and never even tried it on the nail. I tried it out and love how it looks on me. I'll definitely try it out in future manicures. Still not sure about Zi though, lol. I might just save it for when I do rainbow nails again.
